These spooky Ice Cream Sandwich Spiders are loveable, easy, and perfect for a kid’s Halloween party! Enjoy!Spooky Ice Cream Sandwich SpidersWith Halloween around the corner, I thought I should post some festive recipes! This one is beyond simple and super kid-friendly! And adult friendly too! Who doesn’t love a cute little ice cream sandwich dressed up as a spider? Adorable, right? I thought so…

ANYONE {and I honestly mean anyone!} can make these!

All you will need is some ice cream, cookies, sprinkles, chocolate chips and any other candies you’d like to decorate with. I used store bought everything because I was feeling lazy. But you can always make your own cookies and even make your own ice cream {if you’re an over achiever…which I am not.}

I probably don’t have to explain this part, but I will anyways–> To make these cute little spiders, you will first scoop some ice cream onto the bottom of a cookie. Top it with another one and squish it down to make sure it sticks. If some ice cream oozes out, just scrape off the excess using a butter knife. You want the ice cream to be the same size as the circumference of the cookie. Then you roll the edges in chocolate sprinkles {or nuts or candies} and place into the freezer to firm up. Mine were really melty, so I kept mine in the freezer for 30 minutes.

Ice Cream Sandwich SpidersRight before you pull the spider bodies out, melt the chocolate chips {which will be our glue} and break apart some pretzels {which will be the legs}. To assemble, dip the tip of one of the pretzel legs into the chocolate and press into place. Continue this process until all 8 legs are on. Dip two mini M&M’s {or other candies} into the chocolate and press into place to be the eyes. Place the spiders back into the freezer to firm up those leg joints {about 2 minutes or so} and then eat them!

See not hard at all, and so darling! Perfect for kids Halloween Parties!

Hope you like these as much as we did! Have a great day! 🙂

Ingredients

  • 1 gallon vanilla ice cream
  • 1 package chocolate chip cookies
  • chocolate sprinkles or other colors
  • medium pretzel twists
  • 1/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • Mini M&M’s
  • any other desired candy

Instructions

  • Scoop some ice cream onto the bottom of a chocolate chip cookie. Top with another cookie and squish down to stick. {If some ice cream oozes out, take a butter knife and remove so the ice cream is even all the way around the cookie.} Roll the ice cream edges in chocolate sprinkles and place into the freezer for 30 minutes to solidify again. Repeat this process until you have 12 spider bodies.
  • While spiders are freezing, break pretzels apart to get legs. You’ll need 8 legs for each spider. Microwave chocolate chips for about 30 seconds or until completely melted.
  • To assemble spiders, remove from freezer. Dip a pretzel leg in chocolate and press into place. Repeat until all legs are attached. Take two mini M&M’s or other candies, dip in chocolate and press in place for the eyes. Freeze another 5 minutes and serve.

This is sooooo cute!!! I think I would eat the eyes first…then the legs…then a couple more bites and the whole thing would be gone! Love that these are all pre-made items too.

The only problem I see with these that I would eat half the ingredients while I was assembling, and then I would probably devour them all on my own! I’m a sucker for a cookie ice cream sandwich, especially one as cute as that!! 🙂

These are so cute, Lauren! I bet you are the best mom ever. 🙂 If we could do Halloween stuff with my students at school (not allowed, sadly), I’d love to do a little project/craft/snack like this!

These are super fun! I’m sure kids would go crazy over these.

Thanks for commenting on my cheese bread post! I was also super excited to find a source for them locally! I’ll have to try making them too!

I don’t even have words for how much I love these! Wish I had time to make them for this year’s Halloween…I’ll keep in mind for next year (or make them just for fun ;))

Wow. I’d make those and then they would melt all over the table because I would dish towel snap anyone that even thought about destroying one of my spider pretzel masterpieces. That’s cute cooking.
