This Week at the Brennan’s

I’m starting a new series on my blog called “This week at the Brennan’s”. Super original title, I know.

Basically, I want to start journaling so I can remember week to week the highlights of what happened. Of course, I document the fun trips we take and all the delicious recipes I make, but I want to start keeping track of the smaller, not so memorable memories. Feel free to read…or not! I love looking back to see just how big my kids have grown!!

We had SUCH A GOOD TIME at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah skiing and enjoying being together as a family. Skiing became one of Brooke’s top 3 favorite sports, next to swimming and badminton. Brooke did so so well on the slopes and was seriously way more brave than I was. I had literal nightmares that I would ski off a cliff and die, so that held me back a little. If you didn’t already know this about me, I *always* have really bad nightmares if I watch something scary or I perceive something to be scary. It makes for boring movie choices, right Gordie!! 😉

This picture is from our last night at Deer Valley. This was right after Blake stood up on his chair, then fell off his chair and brought his entire dessert plate on top of him….fondue chocolate included. Poor boy!! Thankfully the chocolate was still warm and he doesn’t know what embarrassment means quite yet.

Also, I forgot how much I enjoyed Pellegrino. That stuff is goo-ood.

By the end of our trip, Blake was starting to cough pretty badly, so he slept a good part of our 6 hour drive home. We did drug him quite a bit though because he was coughing nonstop and apparently he gets really angry when he can’t stop coughing. Something we learned this trip….

Brooke started to cough a little bit, but we are doing our best to give her extra vitamin C, extra water and keep her away from sugar. It seems to be working! We are going on another vacation next week (rough life, I know) and do not want to catch whatever bug Blake has. Poor Eddie is starting to cough a tiny bit too, but we are hopeful that if we keep everyone apart before we leave for the airport on Monday morning, we’ll be aok. (My luck is not this good, so we’ll see!!)

Eddie learned to point his little finger this week and it’s the cutest thing I ever did see! He can now point, give high fives and wave hello. Such a smarty pants!!

Other notable things that happened this week:

Eddie slept 13 hours last night uninterrupted. Miracles still do happen.

I finished a cookbook proposal this week and sent it to my literary agent! We’ll see if anything comes of it.

Gordon continues to work at getting his dream job and he is so close! He has a conditional job offer and we are just waiting for a few more things to come through in order for him to get the actual job offer. I’m so nervous and excited for him!

Brooke and Blake finished their Valentine’s this week, thanks to our loyal babysitter, Margaret.

Blake tried skiing and didn’t like it at all.

In the last hour of my last ski lesson, something clicked and I because 1000x more comfortable on my skis! Gordon and I are looking into doing a longer day date to go skiing locally. That man is good at everything he does. He hasn’t skied in over 15 years and he just picked up where he left off. What a show off. Ha!!

This next week We are looking forward to:

Disney World and a Disney Cruise!! My kids have never been on a cruise ship before, so I’m hoping they don’t get sea sick. Any tips or tricks?

Brooke is turning 8 on the 8th! She will be celebrating at Disney, lucky girl. I LOVE HER.

  4. We took our kids to WDW and a Disney cruise several years ago — our son was 8 then. The kids had such a great time! They loved the kids club and activities –and the food. I think our son’s favorite memory is of free-flowing pizza slices and soft serve ice cream! LOL
They didn’t have any issues with seasickness.
    Enjoy 🙂
