Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats

Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats Recipe

This is one of my many Rice Krispie Treat variations on the blog and it is such a simple way to transform a classic recipe. Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats are great for a fall dessert and can be made in 15-20 minutes from start to finish. Everyone will go nuts for these, promise!

Main Ingredients Needed

This is a family-friendly recipe that only takes a couple of minutes to make and a handful of ingredients. It’s also nearly fail-proof! Here’s what you need to make the perfect Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats.

  • Rice Krispies – crunchy puffy cereal.
  • Marshmallows – what sweetens this recipe and helps everything stick together.
  • Butter – salted or unsalted. I’d recommend salted to help balance out the sweetness. You can also brown your butter for a nutty taste.
  • Caramels – these are those candy soft caramels you can find in the snack section of your grocery store.
  • Heavy Cream – this helps the caramel become creamy and a consistency that is perfect for drizzling.
  • Coarse Salt – sprinkled on top for the balance to all of the sweet. Coarse salt looks better and there is less of a chance of overloading your bars with salt.

Just making these today for the Pastor of our church. Someone told me recently that he loves Rice Krispie treats and I thought why not make these. I’ll let you know how it goes.

The recipe card states to use “20 caramels, unwrapped” which means before you begin, you’ll want to unwrap them. Kraft caramels (which is the brand you’d find in a store in the US or Canada) come with clear plastic wrappers on them so before melting with the cream, you’ll want to remove those.

Yay for quick and easy (and no-bake!) treats! I’ve got a moderation problem with brownies. Maybe I could switch to these? Ha ha 😉
