Add Cream Cheese to Your Milkshake?

This Strawberry Milkshake was something I made on a whim as a fun afternoon treat. Oh, my word. I forgot how delicious, fun, easy, fabulous, and amazing milkshakes are. By adding cream cheese to the blender, it brings this milkshake to the next level of tangy and creamy! Yum!

How to Make a Strawberry Milkshake

Just 5 simple ingredients to make the best strawberry milkshake you’ve ever had. For full details on how to make a Strawberry Milkshake, see the recipe card down below 🙂

Add Ingredients to Blender

Start off with some milk in your blender and add in strawberries and cream cheese.

Scoop in some vanilla bean ice cream into the blender too. Don’t be afraid to be heavy handed with the ice cream.

What kind of milk is best to use for milkshakes?

I would recommend using whole milk or 2% milk for milkshakes. For a creamy and smooth milkshake, you need the higher fat content that skim milk offers. You can use a vanilla greek yogurt or a plant based milk, like almond milk. It will alter the taste and texture slightly, but will still be delicious!

Can I use other berries?

Short answer- Yes. I mean it won’t be a strawberry milkshake anymore, but you can use whatever berries you have on hand and choose to use. You could even add a couple different berries (1 cup total) for a different version.

Blend Until Creamy + Smooth

Secure the lid and blend until smooth! Add as much or as little milk as you’d like to get desired consistency.

Pour into Glasses + Garnish with Whipped Cream and Fresh Strawberries

Pour into serving glasses and top with whipped cream (or make your own homemade whipped cream) and fresh strawberries. Perfection right here. If you like my strawberry milkshake on the thick side, use a spoon, but feel free to add more milk and use a straw.

Storing Leftover Strawberry Milkshake

While I highly recommend enjoying your milkshake right after you make it, you can store leftovers for later! Simply put any remaining milkshake in an airtight, freezer safe container and store in the freezer. Strawberry Milkshakes will stay fresh and tasty in the freezer for 1-2 months. After that, they don’t taste as good as they did on day one.

To revive your frozen milkshake, remove from the freezer and allow it to sit on the counter for 5-10 minutes. Stir and enjoy.

Hi,i just copied down your strawberry cheesecake milkshake recipe,it looks so good and tastey that i am going to make this milkshake at the end of this month after i buy the ingredients to make it in my blender.unfortunately i have a magic bullet blender for one person and i was wondering how i can make it to fit in my blender.
I am also lactose intolerant so i have to use natrel 2% milk and natrel vanilla ice cream and i am fine and ok with the strawberries, cream cheese and the spray cream.

  3. Andrea @ Recipes For Divine Living

You have no idea how good that sounds to me. Perfect timing too. Just bought some awesome strawberries.

    Nice recipe Lauren!

For those who want a lower-fat alternative I do something very similar, but I omit the ice cream and substitute buttermilk for the normal milk in the shake. I know it sounds gross, but it is amazing and low fat/calories compared to cream cheese!

The one fruit my daughter will *always* eat are strawberries. I’m betting I’d get quite a few I love yous if I made some of these up!

  8. Liz @ iheartvegetables

Woah this looks SO deliciously fruity and creamy! The perfect summer treat! I’m glad pinterest led me to your blog! 😉

  9. Baking Serendipity

Adding the cream cheese is genius! I love this 🙂 And your fruit aversion totally cracks me up. I did the same thing with vegetables growing up, and now that I’m older and married (but no kid yet!) have finally come around to love them.

  10. Erika - The Teenage Taste

I’ve been in love with strawberries for as long as I can remember, so I’m thinking I’d love this! Heck, with all this hot weather we’ve been having I could use a nice milkshake. Yum! 😀

  11. Anna @ hiddenponies

My husband would love me forever if I made these, thanks for the idea! I see milkshakes being a regular summer treat around here now!

  12. Shirley

I would have slurped this up as a child or adult. I don’t think I was crazy about strawberries as a kid, but I did like that strawberry-flavored liquid antibiotic. Who didn’t? This looks infinitely better, and I fully endorse the mountain of whipped cream!

  13. bestfoodies

When I was pregnant milkshakes were my thing and it never went away. I never even thought of combining milk shake with cheesecake….yummy!

  14. Ali @ Gimme Some Oven

I lovvvvvvvvve strawberry milkshakes! So glad you eventually came around to the strawberry-love too. These look great!

If only I had a yard!

I don’t often have milkshakes because there doesn’t seem to be a natural time of day to eat them (I think maybe I’m just weird) but this looks super-yummy!

  16. VJ Kloosterman

What kind of blender do you have? Do you like it? I shy away from anything that needs to be blended as mine never seems to do a great job!

  17. Averie @ Averie Cooks

It’s so hard being a mom some days! I can relate to your story, 100%. I had to be extremely careful with what I ate, too.

    This milkshake looks incredible!

  18. Chung-Ah | Damn Delicious

This really does look like absolute perfection! I might just have this post-workout as a little treat 🙂

  19. Georgia @ The Comfort of Cooking

I love your story and also love that out of your experience came a delicious milkshake treat. If you through some chunks of cake in there or graham cracker, I’d probably have this every single night for dessert. Never thought to put cream cheese in a milkshake and by golly I think it’s brilliant!

  26. Carrie @ Bakeaholic Mama

ahhh this looks SO good. I love strawberry frappes and shakes… never thought to add cream cheese!
