Maple Bacon Rice Krispie Treats|Sweet and Savory

These Maple Bacon Rice Krispie Treats are perfectly sweet and salty, savory, chewy, crunchy and are basically good enough to eat for breakfast! I mean, you’ve got your cereal, your bacon and maple syrup all together in one easily transportable bar! They taste like french toast and bacon smothered in maple syrup. Totally amazing!

Main Ingredients Needed

Just 5 ingredients are needed to make these Maple Bacon Rice Krispie Treats! Here’s what you need:

  • Butter – salted or unsalted. I’d recommend salted to help balance out the sweetness.
  • Real Maple Syrup – for flavoring.
  • Mini Marshmallows – what sweetens this recipe and helps everything stick together.
  • Rice Krispie Cereal – crunchy puffy cereal.
  • Bacon – precooked, for that savory, flavor.

Tips and Tricks

Before you get started, read these super helpful tips and tricks on how to make the most perfect maple bacon rice krispie treats possible:

  • Fresh Marshmallows. Buy a new bag instead of using the bag in your pantry that has been sitting there for how many months (???). Trust me, fresh marshmallows are the way to go.
  • Gently Pack. Press your rice krispie-marshmallow mixture into your greased pan hard enough to flatten the top, but gently enough to not pack it in. This is to avoid a hard texture when eating. The extra marshmallows will help avoid this.
  • No Sticky Fingers. To pack your treats into the pan without making a mess, grease your fingers, then gently press/spread the mixture into the pan. Voila!
  • Storing. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.

How to Make Maple Bacon Rice Krispie Treats|Directions

Just like regular rice krispie treats, these do not take very long to make. Just a few minutes to melt the marshmallows, butter and maple syrup together, then add in the remaining ingredients and press into your pan. Let them come to room temp to cut or feel free to eat them out of the pot hot and sticky! YUM. I may or may not have done that…

Step 1: Prep Pot and Rubber Scraper

Spray large pot and plastic rubber scraper with non-stick cooking spray.

Step 2: Make Rice Krispie Mixture

Place pot over medium low heat and melt butter completely. Pour in maple syrup and marshmallows. Stir with rubber scraper to melt everything evenly together. Remove from heat, stir in rice krispies, chopped pre-cooked bacon, salt and remaining marshmallows.

Step 3: Press into Pan

Pour into greased 9×13 pan. Butter fingers and press mixture into the pan to flatten. Cool until at room temperature. Cut into squares and serve!

Patrick from Ontario Canada: To kick up the flavor i poked holes into the squares and filled them with extra chopped bacon then basted the top with more bacon grease. This is a heart attack in a pan but ohhh so Good !

I pinned these and can’t wait to make them. I think might even try them with chocolate dipped bacon (or maybe just add choc chips). 🙂

P.S. I loved your post on Instagram about shopping in your sleep. I can’t wait to see more!

I use the precooked bacon because it’s already cured and can be stored at room temperature. If you use real bacon, I’d recommend eating the whole pan within 24 hours. You don’t want it sitting out very long with the real bacon. I think organic rice krispies would work just fine in place of the original.

I never liked bacon until pregnancy with my second. Then I started craving it ALL the TIME! Chocolate covered, on donuts, on my burgers, basically in every recipe I ever had…. Pretty much everything. These pictures made my mouth water and bring on a huge craving. I just had to remind myself I’m not pregnant lol! Can’t wait to try them 🙂

I’m so glad that you were able to spend this time with your hubby. AND I’m so glad you were willing to put bacon in rice crispy treats….who would have thought and yet it seems so natural.

I know how it feels to be a military wife. I was one in my 20’s. It gets easier! I got involved with the local Family Support Group and it helped immensely. I hope the time passes as quickly for you as it did me! <3

Distance DOES make the heart grow fonder! But I don’t think I could go that long without seeing my hubs. You are one tough cookie.
    Or rice krispie.
