Dole Salads & Eating Well Giveaway

Apple Almond Salad I’m pretty sure by now you all know I am with child…and am nearing my 3rd trimester fast. I see the faint line at the end of the tunnel! Hooray! Along with puffiness and a big ol’ belly comes cravings. And believe it or not, I’ve been craving really healthy foods this pregnancy. How strange and awesome is that?

-Grapefruits don’t last at my house. I usually crave them at night. I eat at least 1 1/2 per day. My husband thinks I’m nuts.

-Bran flakes are another thing I can’t get enough of. This baby likes his fiber! Haha….

-Celery with peanut butter is another afternoon favorite.

-AND, butter lettuce. I can’t stand other lettuces. They just don’t satisfy me quite like butter lettuce. So I stock up on these prewashed and packaged butter lettuce bags from Dole. My life becomes so much easier with these in my fridge. Lately, my go-to salad is butter lettuce with apple slices, toasted almonds and my favorite dressing I grew up eating. I always have these things on hand, plus a sweet, crunchy buttery bite of salad makes for a great lunch or light dinner.

I love all kinds of salads, but my favorite would probably be one my grandmother used to serve with just about every meal. The only ingredients were iceberg lettuce with sliced garden tomatoes and cucumbers, topped with Wishbone Italian dressing. Simple, but sometimes simple is best.

My favorite salad is one that doesn’t require too much effort and that’s why I love bagged lettuces and salad kits. For some reason, it just taste better to me when someone else practically makes the salad for me.

I love spinach salad with bean sprouts, water chesnuts (the only time I will eat these things) and tons of mushrooms – I would prefer more mushrooms than salad. Top it off with a homemade sweet/tart dressing.
